High Demand for Event Management

To meet the growing demand for skilled event managers, the Diploma of Event Management is being offered at Wodonga TAFE for the first time.

Students will complete the course, specifically tailored for the event management industry, with a Double Diploma in Event Management and Tourism Management.

The course, which begins on Thursday March 9, has received strong interest from a broad cross section of the community seeking to gain experience and skills in the management of a range of events from community based to larger scale productions

Teacher, Kevin Bourke said Wodonga TAFE was delighted with the positive response from industry and the public to the new course.

“The introduction of this course is indicative of Wodonga TAFE’s drive to be innovative and responsive to the needs of our community, and we are the only regional Institute to be offering this qualification,” he said.

Kevin Bourke, a well known representative of the local tourism community has worked extensively with Destination Albury Wodonga in recent years. Kevin is well credentialed to present this course having a long and varied career in event management.

Potential students already employed in the industry, may also have the opportunity to gain recognition of prior learning to fast track their qualifications.

Members of the community with an interest in either tourism or event management are encouraged to contact Hospitality and Tourism on 6055 6966.
