Explosion in DIY Catalyst for New Course

The explosion of interest in the DIY industry has been the catalyst for the introduction of the short course, Introduction to Interior Design being offered by Wodonga TAFE this month.

The course will explore the basics of design history, design principles, space planning, basic colour, lighting principles and soft furnishings.

Course Coordinator, Kerrie Bonnel said if people have ever wondered how to coordinate colours, or marvelled at how strategically placed lighting can totally transform the look of a room then this was the course for them.

Ms Bonnel, who also teaches in the Diploma of Interior Design, said that in people’s hectic lives many people are striving to make their homes aesthetically pleasing and harmonious retreats.

“Sometimes you just need to know some basic design strategies to make this happen,” she said.

Ms Bonnel said Wodonga TAFE would offer several connected courses throughout the year including Displaying Artwork/Photography, Lighting Principles, Basic Colour Workshop, Adding the Final Touches and Kitchen and Bathroom – Planning and Design.

The Introduction to Interior Design commences on April 6, 2006 and will run in the evenings.

To register interest in this course, please contact the Manufacturing and Design Department on 02 6055 6645.
