Certificate II in Building and Construction (Carpentry) Pre-apprenticeship  21393VIC

In this course you can develop the skills and knowledge to gain employment and complete an apprenticeship in the building construction industry.

The course is nationally recognised. Successfully completing the course will give you significant credits for the apprenticeship course, Certificate III in General Construction (Carpentry – Framework/Formwork/Finishing).Projects constructed during the course include a tool box, saw stool and a live project.

Certificate II in Applied Design in Industry 21633VIC

This course aims to provide students with the skills and knowledge that will enable them to gain employment and commence an apprenticeship in the building construction industry with a specific focus on catering to the needs of indigenous students.  This course also offers insight into the design area of the industry.  Graduates are eligible to receive credits for completed competencies towards their apprenticeship in the industry.  Cert II Applied Design Flyer (PDF - 202KB)

 

Certificate II in Furnishing (Pre-apprenticeship Cabinet Making) 21278VIC

This course provides you with the skills, knowledge and techniques required for cabinet making. The course involves reading and using plans to build projects such as a coffee table, a bedside table, a hanging cabinet and a modular unit. You will gain experience in using hand and power tools to build interesting furniture pieces.

Certificate III in Furniture Making (Cabinet Making)  LMF30402

To become a tradesperson in the furnishing industry requires the completion of an Australian apprenticeship in furnishing. To get an Australian apprenticeship you will need to find a job with an employer willing to supervise your training. This course is designed to produce tradespeople with appropriate skills in the furnishing industry. Over the period of the course you will construct various projects including kitchen fitments, tables, chairs, mirror frames, desks and cabinets which you may keep after contributing to a portion of the material costs.  Cert III Furnishing Flyer (PDF - 203KB)

 

Short Courses offered         

Introduction to Cabinet Making LMFFM2006A

This course is designed to give participants basic cabinet making skills. You will practice the art of cabinet making whilst constructing a set project for your home. No experience necessary. You have the option of continuing through to intermediate cabinet making or to progress to the Certificate II Furnishing (Pre-apprenticeship Cabinet Making).

Intermediate Cabinet Making 21278VIC

This course follows on from the Introduction to Cabinet Making.  You will increase your skill level and gain a further qualification whilst constructing a piece of furniture from a series of set projects.  Upon successful completion, you may choose to progress to the Certificate II in Furnishing (Pre-Apprenticeship Cabinet Making).

Certificate II in Furnishing (Cabinet Making) 21278VIC

This course provides you with skills, knowledge and techniques required for cabinetmaking.  During the course you will gain experience in using hand and power tools necessary to build interesting furniture pieces.  The course involves reading and using plans to build set projects to enhance your skills in cabinet making.  Projects include hall table, dining chair, bedside chest and modular display cabinet.

Furniture Restoration LMFFF2002A

Come along and restore a piece of furniture. The piece needs to be reasonably simple for you to restore and needs to meet your level of restoration ability or if you feel you are up to it bring along a more challenging piece. If unsure, chat to the teacher prior to commencement of class. An extra cost may be added for repairs to larger pieces or replacement parts of furniture. No experience necessary.  After completion of the course you may continue into the Introduction to Cabinet Making Course.
