If you want a career in interior decoration and design then this course is the one for you. Interior decorators and designers have an interest in the relationships between form, function and aesthetics and how they enhance the quality of life for their clients.

interior design picture of studentYou will learn computer-aided, freehand and manual drawing skills along with colour theory, product knowledge, advanced communication skills, soft furnishings, business practice and management, lighting design, design history, and principles and elements of the built environment culminating in project design and management. Both residential and commercial projects will be covered in this course.

Diploma of Visual Merchandising

Visual merchandisers work in the event, exhibition and retail industries to present and maintain an organisation's image, service and merchanidse to cleints and customers. Learn about design concepts and space management, including developing a general knowledge of design techniques. Develop an understanding of store layout, concept visuals and the retail market along with career options available to you.

This is a 2 year full-time course or 4 to 6 years part time that is nationally accredited. Visual merchandisers work closely with store and marketing managers. There are diverse career opportunities available that include work in the exhibition industry, retail, designing and developing point of sale material, working with photographers as stylists and as consultants to small and large business. Experience can also lead to employment in management positions.
The course has a strong hands on, industry based approach that emphasis maximizing the visual impact of an organizations image, products and services. Students will learn to use both creative and practical skills to meet industry needs and standards in this multi-skilled career; many are life skills and are transferable into a wide variety of fields.
