Basic Welding MEM30305

This course is designed to assist the person with little or no experience in welding working on that small job around the house or farm and those wishing to obtain a start in the welding trade. The course allows flexibility to gain both practical experience and theoretical knowledge in one or more of the welding areas – gas tungsten arc welding, manual metal arc welding, gas metal arc welding or oxy-acetylene welding. Once completed you may follow on to the intermediate and advanced welding courses.

Pre-vocational Engineering

Certificate II in Engineering – Production Technology MEM20205

Certificate II in Engineering (Production Technology) provides you with the skills and knowledge for employment in the engineering industry and allows credits into an apprenticeship in various engineering and manufacturing careers.

This course provides you with the skills and knowledge for employment in the engineering industry and allows credits into an apprenticeship in various engineering and manufacturing careers. The industry operates in a rapidly changing environment and uses new technologies and modern work practices to compete in world markets.

Certificate III in Engineering (Fabrication Trade) MEM30305

To become a tradesperson in the fabrication industry you need to complete an Australian apprenticeship in engineering fabrication. To get into an Australian apprenticeship you will need to find a job with an employer willing to supervise your training. This course is designed to produce tradespeople with appropriate skills in the light and heavy fabrication industry.

Intermediate Welding MEM30305

This course is for the person or tradesperson wishing to develop skills in manual metal arc welding, gas metal arc welding, gas tungsten arc welding and oxy‑acetylene welding. The courses provide the ideal pathway for entry into the fabrication and welding industry. Once completed you may follow on to the advanced welding course.

WELDING CERTIFICATION AS 1796 (Examining Body WTIA) MEM40105

The Fabrication & Welding Technology Department delivers a program for suitably qualified applicants, to provide the necessary training for examination under the Government Welding Certification Code—AS1796. Relevant instruction for Certificates No 1 through to 8 will be available.
