The Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) is the system that identifies the various levels of educational qualifications in Australia.  Wodonga TAFE is a registered training provider delivering vocational education, training and assessment across a wide range of disciplines.  Qualifications include: 

• Certificates I to IV – each of which generally takes up to the equivalent of one year of full-time study


• Diploma – which is generally the equivalent of two years full-time study


• Advanced Diploma – which is generally the equivalent of three years full-time study


• Associate Degree – which is generally equivalent to two years full-time study towards a bachelor’s degree. Full credit may be given towards such a degree in a related area.

AQF qualifications are nationally recognised and progress through increasingly complex work and learning situations, which prepares the student for more responsibility in the workplace or further education. AQF qualifications require the student to successfully complete a range of tasks to demonstrate their level of competence. In many cases, the material studied can be related to the tasks performed in the workplace, and the studies done at one level may reduce the time needed to study to gain a qualification at a higher level.

Apprenticeships and traineeships are courses that have formal employment requirements and contracts. They involve the student in a combination of work and training to obtain the qualification.

The Wodonga TAFE Quality Management System is designed to comply with the requirements of the AQF outlined above and two other major quality standards:

• The Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF) – a set of quality standards designed specifically for Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) such as Wodonga TAFE
• ISO 9001:2000 standards – the internationally proven and recognised quality system.
