Traineeships and Apprenticeships

The Australian Apprenticeship Program (including traineeships and traditional apprenticeships) is a national system for people to work, learn and gain a nationally recognised qualification all at the same time.

Wodonga TAFE offers flexible work based training and assessment that may include classroom delivery, block release, online learning and other self-paced learning materials. We deliver training across Victoria, New South Wales, South Australia, Australian Capital Territory and Queensland.

A traineeship or apprenticeship course can take between one and four years to complete, depending on the level of qualification, relevant skills and knowledge already obtained, the average number of hours worked and specific industry requirements. Wodonga TAFE offers traineeship qualifications ranging from Certificate II to Diploma and apprenticeships at Certificate III level.

Employers of a trainee or apprentice need to have a registered Training Contract in the workplace’s State. An Australian Apprenticeship Centre (AAC) can help you register this agreement and they will also inform you of the benefits and financial incentives that may be available to your business if you employ a trainee or apprentice.

A Training Contract can be registered at any time during the year but it is recommended (particularly in the case of apprenticeships) that you contact the TAFE and negotiate when and how the training will take place. Some traineeships and apprenticeships involve block release or some classroom activity that may only have yearly or mid year intakes.

If you need advice or assistance about which traineeship or apprenticeship might suit your business needs, please contact Business Development. We can also refer you to an Australian Apprenticeship Centre.

To discuss your particular training requirements, or to find out more about traineeship and apprenticeship training available through Wodonga TAFE, phone 02 6055 6909 or email busdevelopment@wodonga.tafe.edu.au for more information.
