SEAS (Special Entry Access Scheme)

A number of Special Entry Access Schemes (SEAS) operate at Wodonga TAFE to assist students who may have been unable to reach their full educational potential or who may have access to the courses of their choice restricted because of their circumstances.  You may be eligible for special assistance through one of these schemes available through Wodonga TAFE.  They include

Category 1: Mature age entry
Category 2: Non-English speaking background
Category 3: Recognition as an Indigenous Australian
Category 4: Difficult family circumstances
Category 5: Disadvantaged socio-economic background
Category 6: Rural or isolated students
Category 9: Women in non-traditional areas
Category 10: Disability or long term medical condition

Special Year 12 consideration.

Category 1 - Mature age entry.  If you are 18 years of age or over and have been out of full-time education for at least one year you are classified as a mature-age student.

Category 2 - Non-English speaking background. People from a non-English speaking background may apply for language support. Applicants will be assessed and appropriate support plans developed for their individual needs.

Category 3 - Recognition as an Indigenous Australian. An Indigenous Australian is a person who is  of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent, and identifies as an Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person, and is accepted as such by the community in which they live or have lived.  Students may be required to provide evidence as proof of eligibility.

Category 4 - Difficult family circumstances. If you have experienced difficult family circumstances that may impact on your studies you may be entitled to assistance. All applicants will be assessed on an individual basis.

Category 5 - Disadvantaged socio-economic background. Any person who currently receives a Centrelink payment and holds a Health Care Card or Pension Card may be eligible. If you do not receive payment from Centrelink but believe you have experienced social or economic disadvantage you may also apply. All applicants will be assessed on an individual basis.

Category 6 - Rural or Isolated Students. People living in a rural or isolated community who may have experienced educational or other disadvantages may apply. Each case will be assessed individually.

Category 9 - Women in non-traditional areas. Women who apply to study in an area that is traditionally male oriented may be eligible for assistance. Applications will be assessed against recognised non-traditional study areas.

Category 10 - Disability or long term medical condition. If you have a disability or ongoing medical condition you may be eligible for a Special Entry Access Scheme. You will need to provide supporting documentation from a medical or health practitioner to support your application.

Special Year 12 consideration. This category is aimed at assisting those students who have had an adverse impact on their final year of secondary schooling through various circumstances.  Refer to the Special Year 12 Consideration Application for eligibility criteria. All applicants who lodge an application for Special Year 12 Consideration will be considered for entry into the nominated program.
