Youth services

There are so many choices to make when deciding on further education and careers that sometimes it’s hard to know where to start. The staff at Wodonga TAFE can help to find the right option for you. There are a number of programs in existence to help when making your decision, however, the Youth Pathways Program is currently the most popular program.

The program is an initiative of the Victorian Government and is aimed particularly at young people aged 15 to 19 years who have left (or are thinking about leaving) school and need some help to look at, or participate in, further education and employment. The Youth Pathways Program aims to

  1. develop skills for young people to manage their learning pathways now and throughout their working lives
  2. develop knowledge, understanding and experience of opportunities in education, training and employment
  3. move more smoothly through the transition phase from compulsory schooling to further education, training and development.

The Youth Pathways Program can help

  1. set future directions
  2. find information on careers and courses
  3. enrol in courses
  4. design a course that suits your interests
  5. set study goals
  6. set short and long-term goals
  7. develop a pathways plan
  8. develop a resumé
  9. develop job seeking skills
  10. with literacy and numeracy
  11. contact other services eg counselling and accommodation services
  12. with case management
  13. talk to Centrelink.
