Parents Returning to Work Program

This program is an initiative of the Victorian Government and is designed to assist eligible parents re-enter the workforce. The program entitles eligible parents to a grant for training and related expenses up to the value of $1,000.

In order to qualify for the grant you will need to consider the following criteria

  1. The training undertaken should increase work skills or improve job prospects
  2. You must enrol in your preferred course within three moths of obtaining the grant
  3. The Parents Returning to Work Program grant is valid for 12 months from date of issue. Any unused part if forfeited at the end of 12 months
  4. The grant entitles the holder to training costs and other related expenses up to a maximum of $1,000
  5. Only one grant is available to a qualified parent
  6. Grants can only be used for training programs and training related expenses.  These might include child care at a licensed child care centre, books or other support materials
  7. Grants are only valid when used at a registered participating training provider

You may be eligible for the grant provided you:

  1. Are not currently employed
  2. Have not worked more than four months (full time or equivalent part-time) during the last two years
  3. Have a child 12 years of age or under
  4. Have been caring for a dependent child for the past 2 years
  5. Have previously held paid employment
  6. Are an Australian resident and live in Victoria
  7. Plan to return to paid work in the next 12 months
